SOFT SILKY HAIR - PRODUCT #5 - REDKEN EXTREME

Now that you know the products I use in the shower its time to take a look at the products I apply once my hair is clean. Well...actually before we go into that I want to explain that I wrap my hair in a towel to let it absorb the water while I dry my body, then I carefully take to towel off. I NEVER RUB MY HAIR WITH THE TOWEL TO DRY IT....NEVER!! this is very important because that can damage your hair.

When my hair was looking awful, one of the things that bothered me the most was the flyaways and I knew that they were partially caused by the hair breaking and I went out looking for a fix. Last year I found this magnificent product,(yes, it's that good) at Ulta and decided to give it a try. I'm talking about Redken Extreme Anti Snap leave-in treatment.

This product is so good, I don't even know where to begin..let's see..it has a pump dispenser which is always very useful to control the amount of product you use. I only use 1 pump but if you have longer hair or more hair that I do, then you will probably need a couple of pumps. I rub my hands together and evenly distribute it.

It smells great; fresh and clean and I love it. The texture is more on the liquid side but not completely runny and that texture makes it easy to cover your hair completely. The best part is that it is not greasy and it absorbs very fast.

This is only the first on the line of products I use on clean hair so I will tell you everything about the next product on my up coming post.

SILKY SOFT HAIR - PRODUCT #4

I have a confession to make... I am an addict! yes, I am addicted to youtube. I must say that every time I want a new product I research for reviews on my beloved youtube. It is a great tool but if you are thinking about doing this, I have a warning.....be prepared to be bitten by the "must buy that" bug. There are so many products exposed in those videos and people show you how good they work for them that it's impossible not to want them.

That's how I decided I needed to try my next product. I saw a billion and one videos of people loving Joico K-PAK deep penetrating reconstructing conditioner but I was skeptical and didn't want to spend that much money on conditioner...you see..at that time I was really thinking that I had tried everything and that there was not one good conditioner out there. In other words I had lost faith in conditioners. I have to say, the idea kept running around in my head and one day I was at Sally Beauty Supplies and almost went into shock when I saw this product.

If you are not familiar with this brand, Generic Value Products is a company of chemists who knew they could recreate any product using the same ingredients and since they didn't have to pay any of the marketing and advertising then they could sell the products at a lower price but with the same quality. I decided I wanted to give this one a try since is was a little over $6. I have been using this product for about 4 months and I love it. I use it about 2 times a week and switch to the other conditioner for the other 2 times I wash my hair during the week, if you haven't read my post on the other conditioner, then click here. I pour a nickel size amount on the palm of my hand and rub both hands together, then distribute it through my hair making sure I don't take it as high as the roots, this product is not as slippery as other conditioners so it's harder to notice when you have evenly coated your hair so I  kind of comb my hair with my fingers in a very gentle way..just to make sure I covered every single strand. I let it do its magic for about 3 minutes and rinse well.

By now, you already know the products I use when I wash my hair but there are more products that come into the equation of softness, so make sure you read my next post to discover what products I use once I'm out of the shower.

Betty says......I like it!

SOFT SILKY HAIR - PRODUCT #3 - NEUTROGENA TRIPLE MOISTURE

By now, you already know the products I use to wash my hair, right? if not then click here

So, after I rinse the shampoo out of my hair, I squeeze the excess water out and apply conditioner. Sounds easy right? well it is but the tough part is finding a good conditioner that works for you. As I mentioned in my first post about this topic soft silky hair I had to buy a ton of products that didn't work for me before I was able to find the ones that I love now. I tried low and high end products and realized that the price is not always indicative of quality but when it came to conditioners, I had never been able to find a good 'drugstore' conditioner. I have to thank Erin or at least I think that's her name, better known as iheartTDWP which is her YouTube channel. 3 months ago she posted this video and because I really think she is amazing and honest, I decided to try one of the products she recommended in her video and guess what.....she was absolutely right,  I LOVE this product. So without further ado let's get into it.

In case the picture is not clear enough, the name is Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask (wow that was long) When you open the screw on lid, you see a cream, that's what it is, a thick creamy texture that glides easily.

I take more or less the amount of a teaspoon and rub my hands together to distribute it and make it easier to evenly cover my hair from mid-length down. I consider this next part to be very important, I comb my hair with my fingers making sure I'm being gently. If I find any knots, I carefully try to break it apart without breaking my hair strands...hope this makes sense ;) and then leave it on for a few minutes. To be quite honest, I have never counted the time but since the first thing I do in the shower is my hair, I do everything else I have to do while I let the conditioner do its job. but I think it's somewhere between 3 to 5 minutes and then completely rinse it out.

I wash my hair every other day, that means around 4 times a week. I use this conditioner 2 of those times and on my next post I will reveal the conditioner I use the other 2 times a week.

Betty says......works well, smells good, inexpensive....can it get better than that??

BERRY GIRLY WITH NYC MOMA AND FINGER PAINTS WICKED GLITTER

One look at my morning toast and the delicious berry preserve on top put me in the mood for berry nail polish..what? did I just say that? Yes I’m awkward that way.

NYC had the perfect color for the look I had in mind, MoMA. It is a berry opaque color (see what I did there? ;D)

Okay enough lousy writing and on with the images:

I decided to add a picture of the bottle itself because on the other pictures it came out a little plumy and I want you to see the real magenta color.

I have been into doing one glittery nail for a really, really, reeeeaaally long time but I have to say that it was not my idea; I saw it on someone else and thought it was brilliant. What I didn’t know at the time is how addictive it is. I now need it on almost every manicure or I feel boring.

Betty says…yeeeiii glitter

ESSIE – PRETTY EDGY vs SALLY HANSEN – GOING GREEN

For the longest time I kept trying to get my hands on this Essie nail polish but it always seemed to be sold out so I had to find the closest dupe I could at Ulta and I bought Sally Hansen’s Going Green.

I’m using 2 coats of Essie Pretty Edgy in the pic above and I love how bright and truly green it is. This is an opaque creme that provides great coverage and is very easy to apply.

When I got home, I noticed that it was extremely similar to the Sally Hansen Going Green nail polished I had so I decided to compare them side by side.

In the pictures below I am wearing both nail polishes and the camera, the angle and the close up shows you the difference between them but in real life it is almost impossible to tell them apart. I showed my hand to a few people and nobody was able to see a difference. In other words, you really need to watch it up close to notice that Going Green has some slight shimmer but besides that, they are basically the same color. They both wear great in my experience.

I am wearing:
Essie Pretty Edgy on ring and pointer fingers
Sally Hansen Going Green on pinky and middle fingers

SOFT SILKY HAIR – PRODUCT #2 – REDKEN ALL SOFT SHAMPOO

If you don’t know why I am writing about this product then click here  to read my “soft silky hair” post.

Yesterday I revealed the first product but if you missed it, click here . I also explained that I switch shampoo every now and then to prevent my hair from getting used to it and this is one of my 2 favorites.

Let’s start by the bottle which I think is very well designed. It’s like half a cylinder that has just the perfect curvature for your fingers to grab on to it, even during slippery situations. Now on with the product itself.

I am not the best when it comes to describing scents but this one should win some kind of price for its tropical sweetness. You have to smell this because it’s that amazing.

Consistency is creamy, not runny and it is very easily distributed. It really holds honor to its name because my hair feels as smooth and soft as I always wanted.

My two shampoos are just the perfect combination to prep my hair for the next line of products. Tomorrow…conditioner
